Types of Skirts

Almost every woman will have a skirt in her collection. It adds to your feminine beauty and there are a variety of skirts to choose from.

A-line skirt is a beautiful skirt smaller at waist and fuller at the hemline. They can be of different lengths-till knee, a little longer or full-ankle length. They have the shape resembling letter A and hence the name. This is mostly a casual skirt and not used formally.

Broomstick skirts have an interesting name and appearance too. They look wrinkled. Imagine the broomstick? Even this can be knee or ankle length and has three or more seams, horizontal ones that wraps around the skirt in various layers. These are casual or semi-casual skirts.

Bubble Skirts has a waistline that is elastic or fitted in nature and scrunched up hemline giving I a baggy appearance. They are mini skirts with length above knees. This is a casual , fun skirt.

Circular Skirts looks like a circle when you keep it on ground. It is made by cutting out a circle from the fabric. It looks like waves when you wear them. This is casual.

Dirndl Skirt is a full skirt fitted and puffed around waist and looks a bit like bubble skirts. Even they are short and till knees. This is a casual skirt.

Fishtail Skirt: Fitted at waist, wider around hips and then narrowing at knees, again flaring out at heels. It looks like a fishtail and also known as mermaid skirts. These are beautiful formal skirts.

Flared skirts look similar to A-line and they flare at hemline. It can be of any length. You can get it as knee length, calf length or even as a miniskirt. They can be formal or semi-formal depending on cloth material.

Gored Skirts has seams that open if you move and close when you are still. Iron and maintain them to keep seams straight. They are also knee length and are casual or semi-formal.

Mini Skirts are short and just long enough to cover the area above your knees. They are mostly casual.

Peasant Skirts seem similar to the broomstick skirt but it is not wrinkled. They have horizontal layers made with same fabric or different fabrics for layers. These are mostly casual.

Pencil Skirts are straight cut , stylish, knee length skirts. These are formal skirts.

Pleated Skirts are the ones with vertical pleats that run up and down all over the skirt. These are up to knee maximum and have to be ironed. They are mostly casual or semi-formal.

Sarong Skirts are casual skirts that look to be a wrapped up skirt. They are wrap around skirts wrapped like an Indian dhoti and tied on one side.

Straight skirts are fitted at waist and the hips and then straight cut till knees. Similar to the pencil skirt, but are less tight. These can be stitched as casual or formal using different fabrics.

Tube skirts are again similar to the pencil skirts, but are more stretchy type and reach below knees. They are semi-casual and semi-formal.
