Being a mother is a 24 x 7 job. Just think of ourselves. We still need our mom and need her till our last breath. i.e. the attachment shared between only a mother and a child. Here are a few tips to help you be a better mother.
1. You are a unique mom: Every child is different; similarly every mother is also unique. So your parenting may not be like your sister’s. So don’t compare yourself to anyone else and worry that you are a bad parent. Don’t criticize yourself too much.
2. When you have done your best, believe you have done it: Try to do everything as best as you can. We may not be able to do everything as we wish, but can only try our best. Just try to make your kids happy as much as you can. It’s not about buying the most expensive toy but buying the best one out of your budget.
3. Self-care is important: Only when you are in your best form, you can give your best. So take care of yourself so that you can take the best care possible for your children. You should give time for yourself and if you are sick, visit a doctor immediately. Otherwise you feel turn weaker, and things turn worse.
4. Simple joys of life: Kids are innocent and enjoy the special and simple things like a gift you bought for his / her birthday. So allow them to enjoy simple joys of life.
5. Communicate with your child: Spending time with your child can help you understand them and communicate with them. It’s not about just speaking. Be his / her friend. This will help you bond better and understand their interests and hidden talents.
6. Give individual attention: Spend time with each child individually to create personal bond and that will help you know all you kids well.
7. Changes are inevitable: We all have our own beliefs but as the world changes our beliefs have to be rechecked. Don’t have too many expectations for your child, that doesn’t mean to let him / her loose. Don’t force your expectations on your child.
8. Don’t overburden yourself: You are the mom, the wife and the homemaker. Apart from these if you are a professional, you have to take care of your work too. To manage all this is difficult. So manage time and seek help. Ask for a helping hand from your kids and husband.
9. Discipline your kids: For every wrong doing, give a little punishment. For older kids, ask what should be given as punishment. For younger ones, give small punishments for their little wrong doings. Only then they will be disciplined.
10. Let your kids fail: When they are young, you can help them to win. But when they are older, you should allow them to learn by themselves.
