Tips to choose Curtains

When picking something such as curtains, keep one thing in mind that they make a whole lot of difference to the room and it is not just a matter of color and fabric, but is also about fabric, length and lining as well. Well, there are more chances for you to overdo it and it is the same thing that you have to ward off, while picking one.

Fabric: Well, we all know that it is one of the most important factors to be considered, while choosing curtains. Choosing the fabric of the curtains has to be determined based on your needs and go for a heavy material or a light one according to your choice. Many fabric experts point out that working with big sample is preferred, compared to that of a smaller piece as the latter might not show the fabric’s true features.

While considering the flexibility of the fabric, it is found that anything other than either linen, silk, faux silk, and velvet, tend to exhibit some uneasiness while hanging. Also, faux silk are the most durable ones and are chosen for hanging in sunny rooms. Well, the rest too have their own properties as the curtains that come with the fabrics of suede, velvet, tapestry and tweed are found to keep out the cold.

Color: While choosing the color, you have to pay attention to the room’s exposure towards sunlight. If your room enjoys the presence of a lot of light, it is then better to skip bright colors. This is because that over the time, the color of the fabric tends to fade out as it gets too exposed to sunlight. Also it is better to go with some neutral colors for the fabric, rather than pitching too much on the color of the room.

Measurement: How you would like to project your room is what determines the measurement of the curtain. If you chose to hang the panels higher than the window, then you could help the room to appear in a larger proportion that what it actually is. Also the length of the curtain could determine the appearance of the room. While going with a curtain that is slightly puddled on the floor, then it will give a rather traditional look to the room; on the other hand, curtain panels that fall flush with the floor will give a bit of modern appearance to the room.

Custom Window Treatment: This one definitely has something special to the selection of curtains. When chosen a custom window treatment to the curtains, it comes with the advantage of customizing the dimension to the window size. They also help you to ease the process of selecting the designs as they comes with a hell lot of default options, however are sure to eat your pocket. If budget constraints put limit to your exploration, then shell a few bucks on high quality window treatments and opt handmade curtains from established companies.
