Buying Tablets

Tablets are the devices wherein you can avail the service of both a smartphone and a PC. However, since there are a large pool of options, you actually end up with getting nothing.

OS: OS aka. ‘Operating System’ is the determining factor of getting a right tablet on the board. The three of the top notch performers in this regard are - ‘iOS’, ‘Android’ and ‘Windows’.iOS is th OS of Apple Products like iPhone, iPad etc. Again the selection in between these, have to be based on your needs. Apps are something that really determines the quality of meeting various needs and looking through this aspect, make  iOS, a bench ahead of its competitors. You can have a whole different array of apps available from the App store, which make it quite interesting to use and explore. On the other hand, ‘Android’ too is getting to the same level of ‘Apple’ in terms of the different array of options. However, where ‘Android’ scores over iOS is in the multiple user login feature, which make the device compatible to use with different users. ‘Windows OS’ make the tablet quite easy to use, if you are from a PC background and the interfaces strikingly match with that of the PC.

This is the technical side that most are unaware of. Well, now coming to the more familiar aspects that can be understood easily for even newcomers, let’s go through the list below.

Screen Size: Screen Size options ranges from small (7-8.3”) - medium (8.9-10.1”) - large ones (10.1”- upwards). This has to be chosen strongly according to your needs once again. If you are looking for a tablet, merely for reading e-books and that of browsing, then the smaller ones meet your needs. They are compact and you can carry it anywhere you go. For more sophisticated needs such as gaming, movie watching etc., you can go to the second stage. The last stage lands you in a hybrid section, wherein you can use it as a laptop as well. However, as the size increases, it becomes less compatible and you become unable to carry it wherever you go.

Storage: Most of the tablets comes with 16GB storage space and your basic needs, such as internet surfing and book storage, will be well covered within this limit. As your needs go upwards, you can go upwards as well with many tablets offering 32GB, 64GB versions.

Connectivity: There are two types of devices - One that is enabled for 3G and the other for Wi-Fi. Well, for your knowledge, there is also a hybrid version that is both 3G as well as Wi-Fi enabled. If your tablet usage is mostly confined inside your home, go for Wi - Fi. Well, as you need to carry the device in your frequent travels, then adopting for a 3G suits you the more.
